紧急求助!

老杨团队,追求完美;客户至上,服务到位!
事情是这样的.上星期六我楼上(18楼)的住户由于自己过失引起小火灾,他在门背后凉自己的衣服,下面放了蜡烛,最后造成燃烧引起自动喷水器的长时间喷水,使得我们17楼的三户人家被水淹,其中我们家因为正在其下而灾情最为严重.其后当天星期六下午BUILDING的OFFICE MANAGER 打电话给我确认我家是否被水淹,让我们去住HOTEL,并且说这种情况下,楼上创祸的住户INSURANCE会COVER我们在此期间的损失情况包括HOTEL的住宿费,叫我们KEEP所有的发票,星期一问她要CLAIM NO. 和一些RELATED INFORMATION. 我们在外二晚HOTEL再向MANGER确认时,她却开始一再闪烁其辞,与星期六的说法开始不相一致,并且怪我们自己不去买保险保护自己的家具财产安全.但我们和有损失的邻居一致认为这个错误并非我们造成,我们有无保险和这一问题并没有任何关系.MANGER说到在租房合约中一条款是住户需要买保险,当家中有所损失时,保险公司会为我们向别人索赔,但我们没有注意到此条款,因为从未想到过这种情况,直接签了名,但此次事情发生的原因并非是我们的过错,我就是想问此个条款和我们向MANGER要求我们自己的合法权益是否会造成困惑和疑难,想向大家询问.难道我们就不能向那个造成事故的住户CLAIM了吗,需要不需要找LAWYER去诉SOMEBODY ELSE. 请大家多给予意见并给予我们一些IFORMATION(Alberta tennance by law)上的支持.

New commer: buy rental insurance, It is $10-$20 a month.

It is nothing to do with the building manager. You should buy insurance. It is common sense here.
( c1 C% J/ |; J; o6 x, VIf you did not buy, and the wrong-doer did not buy, then you get nothing. You have to go to court to claim against the wrong-doer's personal property. The manager can be the witness.
# W9 ^1 H. Z4 O1 z, N8 S6 xIt is same as car accident. If someone hit you, and he has no insurence, the police will charge him of "driving without an insurance". But you should not expect to get compensation from the police.

If you do not have tenant insurance, you could try to cliam it from others who lead to this incident.  But that is up to the judge's judgement.  1 p/ g5 a1 F- ~. k2 ?# z

See if you could find some items in the condo bylaw that applies.
