Introducing ETS Stealth, Edmonton's first electric bus5 Y( E; }6 l; ^8 F5 A! U" a
Beginning June 9 the City of Edmonton will begin testing two electric buses (named ETS Stealth) on ETS routes across the city.- c" p* D) S# K
7 B g: k {3 z# p5 mThe ETS Stealth is a standard low-floor accessible 40-foot bus similar to the rest of the ETS fleet. The big difference is the electric engine technology. The ETS Stealth operates exclusively on electricity, creating zero greenhouse gas emissions at street level. In addition to delivering a quiet, clean and comfortable ride for passengers, electric buses have low operational and maintenance costs, especially given the rising cost of alternate fuels.& ]8 z' |2 h) P# d2 q
- z9 ^( p1 G1 O. g/ T8 F; KThere’s no telling where or when the ETS Stealth bus will show up, but when it does passengers will be invited to board free of charge. Instead of paying a fare, passengers will be asked to complete a survey describing their experience with the technology.% l( l2 a4 B$ G1 |
