not do any of the following:
u7 V8 H! K2 G# F: C(a) drive a motor vehicle on a highway unless the motor
! j8 G& {/ E4 a; g$ U5 c4 |% L3 y# {vehicle is an insured motor vehicle;; U3 N6 p& o; c) [" h% M0 T8 v
(b) have a motor vehicle on a highway unless the motor2 L: ^* c& ~: W/ ?
vehicle is an insured motor vehicle;
- S; x5 t/ x2 q; S(c) where a person is the registered owner of a motor vehicle,6 q, j0 T4 |/ K) I% u. ^6 X* c
permit another person
! @ c9 O: V, i* L8 ?; a9 S9 q(i) to drive the motor vehicle on a highway, or% R# W: C3 Z/ v1 e" q1 S" ^
(ii) to have the motor vehicle on a highway,
! p) f( E: o8 u. F- y/ ~. _unless the motor vehicle is an insured motor vehicle;+ ^0 g8 x3 k' p9 Y3 x
(d) give or lend a financial
8 h5 x' w8 ^. r8 `, l4 Lresponsibility card or a copy of it
3 _- d# a& w& A) Tto a person not entitled to have that financial" F7 t1 y$ i- v5 l4 g7 a. E
responsibility card or copy.

If a person drives or has a motor vehicle on a highway o2 @/ I5 P3 {0 S6 T- k
without the expressed or implied consent of the registered owner of4 s! t! g, z i
the vehicle, that person is deemed for the purposes of subsection
" M) N& q. t; M$ H9 w4 j( h, `(1)(a) or (b) to drive or have on a highway a motor vehicle that is. h& f8 H& t0 Z! K- D
not an insured motor vehicle., U- W% c; i, F! R

If the registration of a motor vehicle is suspended under this
( s/ K3 A4 B! F5 O$ B8 {/ l& CAct, the motor vehicle is still registered for the purposes of this

Subsection (1)(a) and (b) do not apply to a person to whom a* u# p4 h1 m% J( C2 ~
financial responsibility card has been issued pursuant to the7 Q( V3 K5 s, M8 c
Insurance Act3 ? \) ^8 N! p9 i5 W
by an insurer who has issued an owner’s policy
: m, }) }- ]6 P% s; \+ Uoutside Alberta.
6 I* a; L: I/ O$ F: C(4)
! J7 z" P/ f* O( LA person, other than a corporation, who contravenes subsection
/ v& ~! N$ w2 g1 j/ m(1) or section 52(1)(h) or 167(8) is liable,
4 c2 @, z1 y& ?4 `% `5 U(a) for the first contravention, to a fine of not less than $2500, K3 Y) o) S2 g
and not more than $10 000 and in default of payment to
( E) k& ]: y- Rimprisonment for a term of not less than 45 days and not
+ Q) @( P7 F! A0 N. y6 Cmore than 6 months

2 @1 v; }1 a- E4 ^! x6 R2 H7 H1 AMinimum $2500, if you don't pay, you will go to jail for a minimum of 45 days. |
